Joe and Kate had a country Maine wedding like none other and were married in Kate’s father’s field amongst family and friends. The day’s torrential downpour that tore apart streets and flooded basements everywhere abated minutes before their ceremony, making way for a calm, beautiful peacefulness to celebrate their special day. Joe constructed the structure that he and Kate were married in, a large tent in the field provided space to eat, drink, and dance, and about halfway through the festivities a double rainbow stretched it’s arms across the sky.

Weddings are inherently loaded with emotion and that’s a large part about why I love them. I smile when you smile, I well up when you well up, and I dance when you dance.

To date I haven’t shed a tear at the weddings I’ve photographed but I came oh-so close to doing so at Joe and Kate’s when their family and friends began singing “Grow Old Along With Me” by John Lennon. I’m not sure what is was but for now I leave with a play button below to listen to Mr. Lennon’s song, and more importantly the photographs from their beautiful day. Thanks, Joe and Kate.

Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one

Joe and Kate had what I would call a true country Maine wedding: heart on the barn, reception in the tent in her father’s field, her mother’s boyfriend DJing, turkeys and chickens in their respective coops, the cow that had given birth only days prior, kids blowing bubbles in the field, dancing on the sized-just-right dance floor. More later this week.
