Although things may look quiet here at David Wright Weddings in Maine, we’re busier than ever and have lots to share in the coming weeks and months. Graham and Jessica, and their family and friends were grand, joyful, lovely, hilarious. Beautiful day and location at the Mooring Bed and Breakfast in Georgetown, Maine. Wonderful to see the closeness of everyone. Like a birds hovering above but not touching the water. I think we all flew to special places that day. I photographed this wedding with Monica Donovan from Eve Event Photography so be sure to see her work as well.

This was the first wedding I photographed with my good friend and photographer Chris Bennett. It’s actually the first wedding I have ever photographed. And even though it was the first wedding, I felt like it was something I had been doing for years. Something I was meant to be doing.

I loved working with Kyle and Amanda and seeing how truly in-love the were and are. I loved meeting their kind friends and families. I loved hearing the thoughtful, humorous speeches given by Amanda’s father, Kyle’s best men, and Amanda’s maid of honor. The wedding was held at The Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport, Maine with trolley service provided by Intown Trolley Co.

A true sign of couple’s character was when Kyle and his groomsmen were getting ready and two young children, relatives of Kyle and Amanda’s, stopped by to see the action. A specific song for old but not young ears was rockin’ out of the iPod speakers and Kyle immediately changed the music. Amanda was always making sure everyone was having a good time and that Chris and I had taken time to eat dinner. As the wedding came to a close Amanda handed Chris and I thank you cards she had pre-written.

Although it rained throughout the day, so much at one point that you could have put a kayak in the road and started paddling, Kyle and Amanda embraced their wedding day and never said a negative comment about the weather. Maybe a few prayers were answered when we had absolutely stunning light as the sun broke briefly through the clouds before setting beneath the horizon. Scroll down to see.

Amanda and Kyle, thanks for inviting Chris and I into your lives for a day. I feel fortunate to have witnessed such a beautiful wedding and met you, your friends, and your families.

The Colony Hotel pool combined with the sunset, islands off in the distance, and vast ocean created quite an epic scene. Right now I’m heading off into the Maine woods with Chris Bennett to climb Mount Katahdin. Chris has climbed it a million times. It’s something I’ve wanted to do since moving to Maine in the summer of 2006. We’ll return Friday night. More soon.
